(im also kind of new to TIG) So far I have been welding it with a Transformer ARC welder using hydrogen rod 2.5mm (i think it is a 6000 series.. i dont have one here to quote the number) (basically 2mm sheet welded onto 16mm Mild steel rod concreted in the ground)

Oct 08, 2008 · In the welding I have done with cor-ten, it all has done very well. I have actually welded some cor-ten just recently that was used for boiler breeching. In this, the 6010 and 7018 rods were used with a DC welder. I don't think that you will have any worries,

The tig welding rods I used were expensive, but I used them because I wanted to avoid issues with welds rusting faster than the steel itself. A welder I spoke said ordinary mild steel rod would work fine as well, maybe someone can confirm this out of experience.
